Which accounts should I connect?
To give you a fast and fair decision, we need to see your full financial picture.
You should connect the account(s) where you:
Receive your primary income (salary, pension, or benefits).
Pay your main outgoings (such as rent, mortgage, utilities, or credit payments).
Note: If you receive your income into one account but pay your bills from another, please connect both. We require UK-based current accounts with at least 6 months of transaction history.
Why do I need to connect my bank? 🏦
To ensure our loan is truly affordable for you, we use Open Banking to securely review your financial health. This allows us to look at your actual income and spending patterns rather than relying solely on a credit score. This "real-world" view often helps us say "yes" to people who might be turned down by traditional lenders.
Why we might ask you to connect another account
If our system identifies that your main spending occurs in a different account than the one you first connected, we may ask you to link an additional account. We do this to ensure we have an accurate understanding of your monthly commitments so we can lend responsibly.
What if my bank is not on the list? ❌
While we support the vast majority of UK banks and building societies - including high-street names and digital banks like Monzo and Starling - some smaller providers are not yet compatible with Open Banking.
If we are unable to accurately determine your affordability using only the connected accounts, we may not be able to proceed with your application
Is it safe?
Yes. Connecting an account is read-only. Abound can never see your login passwords, move your money, or share your data without your permission. You remain in total control and can revoke access through your banking app at any time.
